Why I Support Ken

Jerry & Phyllis Hunsinger

A true constitutional conservative, beholden to the people, not the special interests, is desperately needed in the U. S. Senate. I believe that Ken Buck typifies these ideals; he...

A Day Late and $13 Trillion Short: Bennet Bucks Obama on Latest Stimulus Package

09/08/10
  • Press Release
Denver, CO— Today, appointed U.S. Senator Michael Bennet claimed that he will not support any additional spending for a “second” stimulus package. That claim is in sharp contrast to his recent voting record.

Not only did Bennet rubberstamp President Obama’s $787 billion stimulus package, but he also admitted to rubberstamping a second stimulus with an $80 billion price tag, according to a recent interview with The Denver Post.

Bennet is contradicting himself yet again.

Bennet’s rubberstamp record in Washington speaks for itself.  Buck’s campaign manager John Swartout responded to Bennet’s claim saying, “In addition to supporting $13 trillion in U.S. debt, he’s already voted for a second stimulus package.  Bennet can’t fool Coloradans.  His record shows that he already rubberstamped a ‘second stimulus’ of $80 Billion in new spending.”

“It’s good to hear that Bennet finally put away his rubberstamp,” added Swartout.

Bennet Admitted To Voting In Favor Of An Additional $80 Billion In New Spending:

Question From The Denver Post:  “Didn’t you just vote for another stimulus package that would have added $80 billion to the deficit?”  (“A Conversation With Michael Bennet,” www.denverpost.com, The Denver Post, 7/25/10)

Bennet: “I did.”  (“A Conversation With Michael Bennet,” www.denverpost.com,  The Denver Post, 7/25/10)

Question From The Denver Post: “Wasn’t the $80 billion new spending?  So, going forward, you would not vote for additional packages?” (“A Conversation With Michael Bennet,” www.denverpost.com, The Denver Post, 7/25/10)

Bennet:  There’s going to be some things like, for example, we’re going to see a bill that has just unemployment insurance extended.  And I would support that ... because there are a lot of people out of work in an economy that isn’t having a jobs recovery so far.”  (“A Conversation With Michael Bennet,” www.denverpost.com, The Denver Post, 7/25/10).
