Greeley Tribune: "If you would have asked me three months ago if I thought there was going to be much of a race, whether it was Tom Wiens or Ken Buck, I would have said I don't really think so," said John Straayer, a political science professor at Colorado State University. "I think that has changed. I think the picture has changed, and I think Ken Buck is for real."

Greeley Tribune: Buck, whose campaign was once seen by many as a long shot, said he thinks voters' mood has played a key role in his success. “This is a different election cycle,” he said by phone after the assembly. “I think Republican voters are tired of establishment candidates and I think we offer a fresh perspective.

Chris Cillizza, Washington Post: WINNERS: Buck, Hayworth and Angle -- running in Republican Senate primaries in Colorado, Arizona and Nevada, respectively -- are all making a direct pitch to supporters of the tea party movement. Nate A. Miller, Greeley Tribune: Weld District Attorney Ken Buck has seen a surge of support in his bid for U.S. Senate recently that has helped him narrow a gap with primary opponent Jane Norton, according to a poll released Tuesday.
The poll, conducted last week by Raleigh, N.C.-based Public Policy Polling, showed Norton leading Buck 31 percent to 26 percent. In a similar Public Policy Polling survey conducted in March, Norton led Buck 34 percent to 17 percent. The poll also showed Buck leading among conservative Republican voters.

Don Johnson, Businessword.com: Is Ken Buck really a fiscal conservative? If he's elected to the U.S. Senate, will the Weld County District Attorney (DA) put his votes where his mouth is?
Allison Sherry, The Denver Post: Ken Buck, once thought to be a dead-in-the-water Republican U.S. Senate candidate with laughable fundraising totals and little establishment GOP support, has surged to life in a matter of days thanks to a handful of prominent endorsements pulling in big cash and -- more important -- national distinction.
Fox 31 Denver : As the high-profile Democratic senate primary heats up, so does the race on the Republican side to take on the eventual winner.
Despite a massive edge in fundraising, GOP front-runner Jane Norton couldn't beat Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck, who actually won by a fraction, taking 37.9 percent in the GOP senate straw poll to Norton's 37.7.
"It was a landslide," quipped Buck, who pointed to his wide grass-roots support.
