Buck Discusses Jobs, Certainty at Colorado Small Business
DENVER—Republican U.S. Senate nominee Ken Buck visited workers at BVM Corp. this morning, to discuss jobs and health care.
BVM is a Colorado based family owned business that manufactures drilling tools for oil and gas, water wells and geothermal energy. Though BVM has been in business for over 23 years, the current economic crises has made it hard for the business to keep afloat.
Rob Boyce, head of sales for BVM is critical of the way Washington has handled the economy—
“It has been under this current administration that our business has struggled significantly. We have been forced to cut our payroll by more than half, leaving us with only 47 employees. And at our lowest point, we were even forced to take one furlough day each week, for months at a time.”
Buck agreed with Boyce. After the event, Buck stated, “Michael Bennet and his friends in Washington have been legislating unemployment since 2008. They started by pushing through the $787 billion stimulus package, pushing through projects that we can’t afford and that we don’t need.”
Boyce also cited Obamacare as a concern--
More recently, the healthcare overhaul supported by the current Sen. Bennet and the Democrat Congress and then signed by the President has become a major concern.”
“When it comes down to it, small businesses like BVM need certainty,” added Buck. “Colorado’s businesses need to know that they aren’t going to get hit with higher taxes, or have to pay higher premiums to cover Obamacare. As Senator, I will work to ensure that small businesses aren’t inhibited by the federal government.”
