Bennet to 850 KOA: Softballs Only, Please
DENVER—Michael Bennet gave a rare interview to a local media outlet today, 50,000-watt powerhouse 850 AM KOA. But the Bennet camp attempted to insulate the appointed Senator from tough questions by sending a mock-up of the interview to the hosts. Bennet suggested such toughies as "Is there anything you would like to tell our listeners?" and "What is your greatest accomplishment?" Surprised by the set-up, KOA's morning show posted the questions to their Facebook page.
"Michael Bennet's Avoid Accountability at All Cost Tour 2010 tried to breeze through Denver's largest news station today, but fortunately for listeners, KOA didn't take the bait," said Buck for Colorado campaign manager John Swartout. "Bennet doesn't like talking to normal Coloradans, and he doesn't like answering tough questions---especially about his record. The guy seems confused: he doesn't work for Obama, he works for Coloradans, and he will be held accountable by them whether he likes it or not."
As Fox News recently reported, appointed Senator Bennet rarely gives interviews. The video report actually showed Bennet reading to a crowd from a script handed to him by staffers.
Instead of the softballs Bennet suggested, KOA's morning show team asked Bennet tough questions about his smear campaign against Ken Buck and the federal government's massive debt---$3 trillion of which Bennet rubberstamped. Yet time after time, Bennet blatantly lied about his record.
"How stupid does Michael Bennet think Coloradans are? How condescending can he be with his serial lies?" asked Swartout. "Bennet has mastered the art of the 'smear and run': smear your opponent and run from your record. But as more and more voters hear the truth about Bennet's record of spending and debt, the more they reject Bennet's sleazy campaign."
The video comes out only a day after video was released of Bennet staffers blocking citizens from asking Bennet questions.
“It’s clear that Michael Bennet cannot run on his failed record of high unemployment and $13.6 trillion of debt,” added Swartout.
