Buck: The America I will fight for
/As the Weld district attorney, I wake up every morning knowing I will go to work and do the right thing.
When I stand up in a courtroom, I give voice to victims. When I speak up in our community, I stand for the most vulnerable. As your congressman, I will also represent the people whose voices have not been heard.
We have more than $17 trillion in national debt, $100 trillion of unfunded liabilities and almost $1 trillion of annual deficit. Congress has been overspending for so long that we are financially bankrupt. If we continue to saddle our children and grandchildren with our debt, we are morally bankrupt.
The reckless actions of Congress will result in our nation’s insolvency and deny benefits to those who need them the most. Seniors living on a fixed income will suffer when we can’t provide adequate Social Security and Medicare. Children living in poverty deserve better schools, but the money has been spent.
The sick won’t find doctors or health insurance because the professional politicians lied to us when they nationalized health care. Neglect will cause our country’s military and infrastructure to weaken until we are susceptible to threats from the outside and inside.
I believe we measure compassion by increasing opportunity. The people in the 4th Congressional District who I talk to want a paycheck, not a welfare check. Americans value work because it’s part of our dignity and respect. I believe America’s strength lies in our people and as we find ways to free their potential, we will get back on the path to prosperity.
The professional politicians want to grow government as the answer to our problems. I believe our government is inefficient, unjust and often immoral. As your congressman, I will focus on helping the vulnerable among us by limiting government and growing our economy.
I want my children and your children to live in a better America than we have now. A great America doesn’t use the NSA to spy on innocent citizens, or order the IRS to target conservative groups, or write a tax code nobody understands or tell us the blend of gas and ethanol we put in our cars. This is the America I will fight for.
