Ken Buck: Football Coach, Community Leader, and Mentor

DENVER, CO:  U.S. Senate candidate Ken Buck released the second in his video series, “Ken Cares:  Teresa’s Story.”  Football mom Teresa (Apodaca) Wright tells the story of Buck during his law school days, when coaching high school football was more than a job—it helped him to realize how much he loved being involved with his community.

Buck played football as a youngster and all the way through college, so it was a natural fit that he sought to pass the torch to future generations.  He started coaching while finishing law school at the University of Wyoming.

“I knew that the kids could only succeed on the field if they also achieved in other areas of life.  So I made sure they knew I cared about other things important to them, like academics, other sports, and even family events,” Buck said.

Wright’s son, Mike Apodaca, is also featured in the video along with his father, Rudy.

“Ken had fantastic knowledge and passion for the game,” said Apodaca.  “He also taught me real life skills.”

The full video can be viewed by visiting the campaign’s website, http://www.buckforcolorado.com/teresas-story.  The first video, “Stephanie’s Story,” describes a domestic violence case Buck oversaw while working as Weld County District Attorney.
